out and about summer day camp for dogs
A one-week training camp for adolescent and young adult dogs who need more practice moving through the world with a little more brain and a little less chaos.
program description
Out and About Summer Day Camp for Dogs is a structured training day camp for adolescent and young adult dogs who need practice with loose leash walking, checking in, settling in public, moving calmly through everyday environments, and making better choices around people, dogs, and distractions.
During the camp week, I will pick up and drop off your dog Monday through Friday. Your dog will participate in training outings in real-world locations such as city parks, walking trails, pet-friendly establishments, and other dog-friendly public spaces.
This program also includes one private prep/evaluation session before camp begins and one required owner/handler session at the end of the week.
camp prerequisites
-
This camp is not for dogs with serious dog aggression, human-directed aggression, a history of bites, severe fearfulness, significant separation distress, dogs who cannot be safely crated or transported, or dogs who need a behavior modification program rather than a manners and real-world skills camp.
By submitting this application, I understand that completion of this form does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Dogs are accepted based on suitability for this specific camp structure.
-
If your dog is a good candidate for Out and About Summer Day Camp for Dogs, I will schedule a private in-home session with you before camp begins.
This session serves two purposes:
I can get acquainted with your dog before we spend the week together.
I will teach you hand feeding and timely rewarding so your dog has a smoother start to camp.
If, during the private session, I determine that your dog is not an appropriate candidate for camp, your deposit may be applied toward a four-session private training package instead.
-
A $120 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your dog’s space and will be applied toward the $1,200 program fee.
The remaining balance is due no later than seven days before the first day of camp.
Note: Payment is only requested after your application is reviewed and accepted.
-
Because this is a training day camp, please do not feed your dog breakfast before pick-up. Your dog should come hungry, with a labeled bag of their daily food allowance. I will provide treats/rewards and water. Your dog will receive their daily meal allowance throughout the day as we train. I will send home any food not used so it can be fed as part of the evening meal.
Your dog will need a leash and collar.
The owner, or another household member, must be home for daily pick-up and drop-off.
-
The Saturday owner/handler session is required. This is where I will teach you how to maintain your dog’s progress after camp. Because this session is part of the program and scheduled in advance, alternate private make-up sessions are not included and refunds are not offered for missed attendance.
-
Your dog must be current on Rabies, DAPP or DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. I will need to see vaccine records before camp begins. (You will be able to upload these records in the application form below).
