PUPPY 101
For puppies approximately 20 weeks and under.
Training and conditioning should start the minute you bring your puppy home. We need to build good foundations and expectations before bad habits harden.
Together we lay the groundwork for manners, confidence and calm behavior in your home and out in the world.
Puppy 101 is a developmental program. It is not simply a smaller version of adult dog training.
We are helping your puppy learn how to live in our human world while building the communication and skills we will continue to use throughout training.
We start with the building blocks: attention, markers, leash pressure, handling, engagement and basic skills such as sit, stand, watch and hand touch.
We also work on the things that matter specifically during puppy development.
PUPPY 101 MAY INCLUDE
- Curbing puppy biting and mouthy play
- Chewing and learning what is fair game
- Handling for vet visits and grooming
- House training
- Polite greetings
- Introduction to leash, collar and harness
- Recall foundations
- Crate training, alone time and place cot training
- Safe socialization and confidence building for our human world
- Appropriate exposure to people, dogs, environments, surfaces, sounds and everyday life
- Enrichment and nutrition habits that support a healthy, confident dog
